Restaurant grease traps are becoming huge problems and concerns for Municipal Wastewater treatment plants and infrastructure. Over the past decade various methods like injecting enzymes, microorganisms and bacteria have been popular treatments for restaurant and hotel grease trap problems. A number of recent studies however have shown that these products may indeed work under ideal research conditions but when exposed to the hazardous conditions in a grease trap i.e.; sustained heat and or cold combined with the lack of oxygen grease trap's are not the ideal condition for enzymes to work. They are however creating problems by re-coagulating "downstream" in municipal sewer lines, lift stations and wastewater treatment facilities.

The solution is GROAP! It is neither a microorganism nor an enzyme, but a formulated blend of organic plant matter bi-products, that when combined with water, reacts to turn the grease into soap. GROAP breaks down any oils, grease or animal fats and separates them from the liquid waste. The second reaction, saponification, then converts the fats, oils and grease into a liquid organic, bio-degradable and eco-friendly soap. Once this reaction happens re-coagulation is impossible to occur under these grease trap, municipal waste treatment conditions.
